Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (Permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD). The main coverage has two parts, Part A and Part B.
Medicare Part A Hospital Insurance
Medicare Part A is also known as Hospital Insurance. People who are eligible for a Medicare plan can usually get Part A coverage without having to pay a monthly premium, because they have already paid into the system with their Social Security withholdings. Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care.
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) covers hospital services, including Semi-Private rooms, Meals, General Nursing, Drugs as part of your inpatient treatment, and other hospital services and supplies.
